Should I continue to Work for Pepsi or Look for another Job?
-
I was going to relocate but the housing market crashed and now I can't get what I owe on my house $160K, Top offer was $125K, I have been working for Pepsi for over 2.5 years driving back and forth 300 miles Total 600 each week. I sleep in my Tahoe truck because they cut Overtime and Hotel and apartemnts are too expensive with what I make and pay. I still have to pay on my house, utilities and bills etc... It's like a catch 22, the Job pays good money and is a good company but I did so good now they put me in a position where the area is totally messed up and they put the person who messed it up in my position that I made run good and smooth. WTF? any ways the pay is like $48K per year but it cost me $800 per month in Gas and maybe $200 in food, Yup $1,000 out of my pocket to work for this "good' company. I have given them about $24,000 or more to work for them. I got a wife and 2 kids too so that is tough, that's why I drive back and forth and have not quit. Also Nobody wants to Rent the house because rent would be like $1350 and anyone can go buy a New house for like $1100.00 My house is nice but also needs about $20K in repairs to make it nice again. Central Heat/AC went out, roof, fence, all the bath fixtures and kitchen counter needs to be replaced. Yes, I can look for another job but I don't have a degree just Military experience and those jobs want me in the middle east. That's even worst. I work in the Transportation and Logistics but again no degree. So that's my issue and I need help to decide what is the best plan. Thanks for your help! Sorry for the long letter.

Answer:
you could call your mortgage company and try to short-sale you current home and rent one closer to work. Pepsi is a great company to work for and its hard to find jobs these days.. hold on to the one you have, and start looking for other sif you really want to get a new on though.

That sounds like a really good job, especially since you don't have a degree. So you shouldn't quit, maybe you could get your wife to do some work, like baby sitting or something to raise money to pay off what you owe for the house. The 125k would mean your missing $35k. Thats what you would need to raise. Maybe selling some stuff you don't need anymore because in my honest opinion, relocating seems like the perfect solution since it would mean you have a good paying job and don't have to spend so much on gas and food and you will have more time to spend with your family. First when relocating you should find the cheapest house possible because from paying off what you owe, to moving, and all those annoying expenses your not going to have much money AT FIRST. Then you will steadily get more money and be able to balance out everything. or if you don't want to risk that, you could always ask people for money...though that usually leads to more trouble also, maybe asking them for a couple more bucks in your paycheck could help
hey, im 14 and dont know much about jobs, buttt ask them for a raise maybe, or if they would pay for some gass or something? idk, ur welcome if i helped in anyway, maybe gave u an idea o r something, well, goodluck =)
