Is an associate's degree in computer networking a good degree?

I really need advice ,im Earning an associates degree, Can i get some help please read and answer?

  • ok, im currently enrolled in a local tech school in a Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Networking program.. the highest degree they have is an associates degree. I looked at the average earning salary for a student with this type of degree in CIS, and the job choices were few and pay wasn't grand either. So, with that in mind, when i graduate with this degree, are there many job opportunities in bigger cities, such as Atlanta (I live in GA) with this kind of degree? My plan is to find a job with the degree i will have earned in the CIS field and be a part time student to earn my bachlors (better pay and jobs).... I know a lot of employers think an associates degree is like half of a bachlors, but, its all i can afford right now.... Please, can someone help me here?

  • Answer:

If you are looking for a part-time job during college, you should consider working at an electronics retailer. Companies like Best Buy love to hire students because they are knowledgeable and will work for around $10/hr. The big benefit you get from working in retail is that you will have a flexible schedule and will be able to gain sales experience, which would help you if you decide to go into software sales or become an IT department manager and have to buy from sales people there.
