Where can a 17-year-old work as a waitress in CA?

Are these too much work days for a starting Waitress? and How do i tell my boss this?

  • Hi i have a question, so i just started a new job and received my schedule today and i noticed that she wants me to work quite a lot. like is this a normal work day schedule for waitresses who are just starting? ThisWeekend: Saturday- 9-1 and 5-8 Sunday- 5-8 Next week: Monday-Off Tuesday-5-8 Wednesday-off thursday-5-8 friday-5-8 Saturday-5-9 Sunday-5-9. Is that too much work time? I mean this is my first ever job and to me this seems like a lot of work. And I don't know what to do, like On tuesday i have singing lessons from 4-4:30 which means i would have to QUICKLY bike all the way to my work which is on the other side of town. Second: on thursday i am in theatre classes and they go from 4:00 till 5:00 so that would make me late for work. and on Fridays i have in-car driving, which well its easy to work around i can always reschedule it but i already did today, and i don't want to anger my driving instructor that i can't make it all the time, cuz then my partner would also get very frustrated with me too if i keep on changing the dates. Please help me! How do i tell my boss this? its my first ever job and im always so nervous around my boss. Help?

    No that is normal for part time work. You either get up the courage to ask for more time off or quit

Oh, come on!!! What do you mean that's a lot of work? That's only 3 & 4 hours a day. The waitresses that I know start out with 8-9 hours a day, 1day off and then do it again. All I can say is to talk to your boss about the schedule. He may work with you or he may let you go, feeling that you don't really want a job.
