Trying to find a cashier job for summer break?
-
I'm in college and already have a full time job during the summer. But I start early in the morning and am done no later than 3:00 in the afternoon. I'd like to pick up a part time job as either a grocery store cashier or at a gas station. That's too much time for me not to be doing anything to make money since I need to pay for college. I start spring break on February 27 and will be home for a week and was planning on looking for a job during that week. Is this too soon? I'm also not sure if they'd want to hire me: I'm a college student that already has a good full time job. It seems like there's a lot of high schoolers or else young adults that never went on to college that work in these places around my town. Also, I've never had a proper interview before! I took over my brother's lawn care business and then was recommended by a neighbor with connections for my full time job with the park service. I'm not sure what the process for a grocery store/gas station attendant would be. I heard you don't need a resume for these sorts of jobs: but I do have one. Is it likely these places would have a problem with me just wanting to work nights and weekends? Would they mind if I already worked a 40 hour week somewhere else? I just want to make sure I'm prepared. This is a small town so I don't have many choices and chances to get hired for a job. Thanks for your advice.
