How long should I wait for a job reply?

How long should I Wait after my job interview?

  • I had an Olympia sports job interview today, and I just reallly want the job! How long should I wait for them to call me back? Will they call if I am rejected? After that period of time should I call them...and what would I say? Thanks!

  • Answer:

After three days, call and say you are *insert name here* calling to check on the status of your interview. Who do you need to speak with. The hiring manager should speak with you and let you know if they have made a decision or not.

In the future, always ask the interviewer when will they made their decision to hire. But you didn't, so what some people do is send a 'thank you for the interview' note to the interviewer. I have sent e-mails doing this. I have even stopped back a day later and dropped off a handwritten note. The purpose of this is to answer any questions you may not have answered too well. And to thank the person for taking time to see you. It also puts your name in front of them again. Wait a week to see if they call you. The majority of interviewers will not contact you if they reject your application. It's okay to call them and ask if the position has been filled yet. If it has not, let them know you are still very interested in being hired (only if you are talking to the person who interviewed you). If it has been filled, simply say thanks and hang up. I hope you get the job.
