How did you pick your career? Are you happy with it?

  • I'm having trouble picking a career and sticking with it. I've taken career test, personality test, counseling, read books on picking a career, research, but I still can't seem to find a career I can be happy with. Artistic, Social likes and a ENFP, INFP personality

    I hate my job. It's a boring office job that has nothing to do with my college degree. I just do it because I'm paying back my student loans and it pays $60k in a tough economy. I'd rather go back to college and get my MA, but that will have to wait I guess. If it wasn't for the money, I wouldn't do what I do. I hate getting up at 7am and spending an hour in traffic everyday. I hate my job. Hate it, hate, hate it, hate it, hate it. I hate it.

What sort of things grab your interest. for me i love being in a tight nit group that depends on each opther to survive so im going to school to get into the DEA. my sister loves doing crazy zhit with computers so she getting into cyber forensics. find what ever interest you and find out what education you need to do it.

I worked my way into my career (restaurant management) to pay for college. But by the time I graduated college, I realized that I made more doing the job without the degree than with it. realize it's not the career that will make you happy though, it's what you do. For instance, I would "really be happy" with a career helping people and making a difference. So what do I do? Organize food and clothing drives, school fundraisers, and so on through the restaurant. The owners love the publicity it brings, and I get to do what makes me "happy".
