Who has a better career: chartered Accountant or Doctor?

Future career question?

  • I am a Junior in High School and have been researching career choices nonstop for awhile now, as i have no idea what i want to be. Specifically careers that require a bachelors degree at the most, or maybe even a masters. Not a doctor or lawyer cuz i dont want to go to college for like 11 years. The common ones ive looked at are Nursing and Dental Hygiene However recently ive looked into being an accountant, my primary question is this: I am very good in math in terms of adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, inn other words arithmetic. I keep hearing that iin order to be an accountant this is the area you need to be strongest in, i am not very good in algebera, calculus etc. so thats why i ruled out engineering. Can i be a successfull accountant if i dont like algebra, trig, calculus, but am good at arithmetic math? IF you are an accountant or know one, please respond. thanks

  • Answer:

Accounting only requires basic math, most accountants use software to do the math for them. Also there are many levels within the accounting field everything from a bookkeeper to a chartered accountant or auditor. The skills you would need to be a top level accountant are critical thinking, attention to detail, navigating corporate bureaucracy and knowledge of the laws regarding reporting income (GAAP).
