• Hey guyys. Ive been working at cvs hourly for 8.75 and hour. i get pretty good hours. Its a busy store. Just a cashier there. Just recently applied to macys and i got the job offer. its in downtown houston. They gave me an offer in the ladies shoes. Commision. The people who work there have been there for 10+ years. Just wondering if its good money and if i can make 400+ in one week? I make about 400 every two weeks at cvs pharmacy. Just curious..how is the atmosphere, how much can i make weekly..etc? P.S I'am going to school for nursing. So this is just a part time job.

  Need more information to answer. For example, if you are working part time, how many hours are you going to work per week? How much is the commission, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%? How many 10+ year people are there working at the same time (competition for you)? Those people can either help you learn, or make certain that you don't get many sales. Remember, it may not be a part time job for them. They may depend on selling shoes to put food on their table and pay the rent. Would you be selling high priced shoes, say $200+, or running shoes? 5% of $200 is a heck of a lot more than 5% of $50. With the holidays coming up, you can bet that Macy's will want you around A LOT, not just a few hours a week, in spite of whatever they tell you right now. What effect will that have on your school studies? CVS is steady work for you, even if not the highest paying. It is predictable. Just some things for you to think about. Can't provide you with any information about the atmosphere or working conditions. I don't work for Macy's. But I bet there will be higher pressure than at CVS, with Christmas shoppers starting to get cranked up in the retail business.
