Should I take a job that I love making half of what I am currently making at a job that I hate?
-
I am currently working as an HR professional making about 35k annually but I hate my job and it is very stressful. I don't have enough hours to accomplish the continually increasing tasks and expectations. I am under appreciated and our department is looked at as non crutial and is the first to get hours cut etc. I asked for a raise based on my experience and was turned down. I spend my weekends stressed out about what I will face the following week. Worst, the leadership does not even know the amount of work that I do and is constantly forcing me to defend myself and my position. I have the opportunity to go back to work at a job that I absolutely loved working as a preschool teacher but my pay would be cut in half. I am also currently a student studying psychology and have a year and a half before I complete my bachelors. Going back to my old job would allow me to enjoy me time off of work and focus more on school. We are already losing our house because we can't afford to pay the mortgage and will likely be moving back in with my parents. So I am sort of torn between hapiness and money....What should I do?

Answer:
What you need to do is sit down and get a notebook and write down all of you bills and such, cost of living expenses, food etc....and see if you logically could afford to go back to your old job. Do what makes you happy, but do it smartly, not that you'll be happier at your old job, cause then if you dont have enuff money to pay your bills and then you'll be miserable that you made a poor decision..hope I helped somewhat..good luck!

HALF the pay? can you afford a $200+/wk pay cut after taxes?
I took a job with a Company that I respected and loved at half my previous job income. I loved going to work every day so much that I used to tell people that "if I didnt need the money, I'd do it for free." I did very well and was soon making excellent money(more than I could have ever made in my previous job.) I never regretted my decision. You need to ask yourself 3 ??? Can you learn more about psychology from your current position or the teaching job? Will your wife and parents support you in your job change? Can you sell the house before you lose it? Just so you know, you will always perform better at a job you love, therefore, you will eventually get paid more!
