How should I follow up after a second interview?

How do I follow-up in an email after my second job interview?

  • My first and second interview went well. They already called two of my job references. It's been a week and I haven't heard back. I would like to send a follow-up email without being intrusive or sound too eager for the job. What should I say in the email?

  • Answer:

I would approach it as a "thank you" to the interviewer. You would word it that you wanted to thank them for taking the time to interview you and that you are extremely interested in the job. From that point they have the door open to respond to you and let you know where you are in the hiring process. Also it is a nice gesture to the person who did the interview. The follow up will not only show them that you are polite and have class but that you are determined and show great interest in the job.

I agree with smal5678 - A thank you email is definitely the way to go. In addition to the excellent advice below, you could mention that you are still very interested in the job, you could even mention an area of the job you are particularly excited about (make this an area where you thought it went well in the interview) Best wishes for the job
