How hard is the Radio Industry?

How can a 18 yr. old find a career in the Radio Control car industry, what should I do?

  • I would like to have a career in this industry, however I'm not sure what to study or what options are available to me

  • Answer:

Truly, a tough career to follow. You must remember it's a niche industry, with so many 'talented amateurs' working it. I'd have to say: 1) Are you a talent amateur? Do you love working on RC cars, and all aspects there of? 2) Are you working in it already, whether at a hobby shop, making items for sale on eBay or other mail order, or maybe tuning cars for others? 3) Are you studying several forms of engineering? Remember, it takes electronics to control, internal combustion to power, mechanics to take the energy of the engine and transfer to the track. You CAN work here, but you have to be ready for a serious commitment.

If you've already finished High School, work on getting into college. Try Electronics. Also speak with a guidance counselor at the nearest college, or a local High School, they can help you further. If your still a High School Student, See if you school offers tech training or electronics training. Last, check yard sales for old radio control car toy's. Carefully disassemble them and see how they work.
