How to follow up after applying for a job?

Should I follow up in person after applying for a job online?

  • I filled out an application for a delivery driver at Advance Auto Parts. I stopped into the store at 7 am (store opens at this time and just to show that I can be on time). I spoke with a worker about certification that is required for such position with the company. He clarified the misunderstanding with the details regarding the position. He than instructed me to fill out the online application, since they do everything electronically. I did filled out the application approximately two weeks ago. From what I understand, email(s) are great when the subject is follow ups regarding applications. This is often less pressure on the person making the decision. I'm having a difficult time find an email address for the store location. Should I follow up in person tomorrow morning bright and early as soon as they open? Thanks in advance for the time and help provided.

  • Answer:

Suze Orman (famous financial advisor) says that if you really want the job, you should really show it. Can't recall her exact words, but the message was: Be the earliest, the most willing, the most dependable. I think I would be there in the morning. Good luck.
