Pharmacy Student (2nd year), how to get a job?

• I am a 2nd year pharmacy student (0-6 program) and would like to get a job at a pharmacy for the summer. however, i called many cvs/walgreens/riteaid and they wont hire me, so i was wondering how i can get a job to get an experience in the summer. also, how do i become a pharmacy technician? i found an application online for my state, but dont i have to do a few hours at a pharmacy first under supervision? can someone please explain the procedure to me please. thank you!

  Hi, I know that times are very difficult right now in the job market and it is a really good time to use the people that you know to help network. By that I mean anyone that you know from school, work, church, family, etc that may know someone else that has ties to hospital or a smaller private owned pharmacy. Hospitals as well as the store chains use pharmacists and pharmacy techs but so often you have to get your foot "in the door first" so to speak. So often it is not just what you know but who you know. Any professional organizations that are for pharmacists can help you network and get to know where the jobs are too. I would look for any locally owned pharmacy if there are any in your city and also be willing to work in a hospital as an assistant. Good luck and don't give up.
