Should I still interview for other positions during a background check for a job offer?

I have received a job offer and it is contingent upon a successful background check. I was wondering if it is smart to continue to still interview with other companies for different positions in case something goes wrong with my background check (I have nothing to hide on my background check). If I do go to other interviews do I disclose to the employer that I have a pending offer for another position?

Absolutely. Never put all your eggs in one basket! I too have had an offer contingent upon a background check. I also have another interview scheduled for Monday. I will not tell the interviewer Monday that I have another offer. I will probably take whichever offer comes through first. If I have accepted and started one position and the other makes an offer, I will evaluate both offers at that time. You have to look out for yourself. No one else will. Good Luck!

Your choice. I would not disclose to your potential employer that you are interviewing. If for some reason, you get a better offer from another interview, just reject the offer you have.

You can. People do it all the time. Don't disclose this to the job that is doing the check. But, if asked during the interviews if you are close to anything, you can tell them that you are in final rounds but are not going to stop looking until the offer is finalized. Some companies will stop looking at you, while others will speed up the process so they can get to an offer if they feel like there is a good fit. You need to judge each situation independently and make a decision.
