I'm 22 years old and don't know what to do with my life/career? Need some career advice?
-
I'm seriously in a huge dilemma at the moment. I don't know whether to go to university or just go and find a job, any job! I finished college (England) just over a year ago and since then i've been working on/off in different jobs with family and in general. I'm just so confused at what i want to do with my life and now i'm 22, i feel like i need to figure it out and start studying for a career, otherwise i'll be 30 and still no direction in life. I just need some serious advice on what i can do and whether it will suit me for the rest of my life or not, but also i keep stressing out and thinking that i'm a failure at 22 because i don't have a career, unlike most people my age. It's stressing me out and i don't know what i should do, whether i should go University, what i should study, if i'm clever enough for Uni etc.

Answer:
A few years back I felt the same way. I did not know what i wanted to do. The degree did not seem to do much for me at the time .... what was I to do. For me ... my answer was to join the military. The enlistments are not too awfully long, it gave me a paycheck, a new skill set, new social setting. More importantly ... for me ... it gave me confidence in myself. It can be a little radical change some would say ... I don't know about you ... but I needed that radical change. It worked for me. Good luck with it if you choose to try that option.

Go take one of those career tests. It will ask you 100 questions about your personality, likes, dislikes, how you feel about this and that. Those seem to be very productive for a lot of people because you are happiest doing what you are instead of just having a job.

You need to try one of the Careers adviser tests. I have tracked one down, Learn Direct have a disc with it on, but I could not find it on one of their websites. Anyway try this one, its American but shouldn't really make much difference, unless it tells you to run for President ?? http://www.ipersonic.com/careers-advice/?gclid=CJDh4-yqjKMCFYKX2AodX3yhYA It will probably make you think of things you didn't even know you might be good at. I wish I had done one 30 years ago I would have gone in a completely different direction to what I did.
