Is it hard to become a pharmacist?

  • Hi, I'm a senior in high school and I'm still not completely sure what I want to do yet. I've thought about being a physical therapist or ultrasound tech, but part of me wants to be a pharmacist. I think it seems like a good job with really good pay and I would enjoy it. I was just wondering though, is it hard to become one? My grades are okay...I make As and Bs. I take normal classes, not honors or advanced classes. With my "normal" classes and As and Bs, could I get into school to be a pharmacist? Thank you!

  • Answer:

You have to go to college first and then go to a Pharmacy school. Lots of chemistry and science. Same with Physical therapy, college first and then Physical Therapy school. With an ultrsound tech, you can get by with an associate's degre but it is a lower paying job.

How well do you do in Chemistry? This and your aptitude for patience to study and commit yourself to learning this volatile trade will be key over the next four/eight years if this really is the course you want to take. If you love science and have a high opinion of your ability, you will proceed with good fortune. There is a lot of power in such a medical profession, ultrasound tech would not be a bad fallback .
