Are there any jobs for 15-year-olds in Ohio?

What're some possible jobs for 14 year olds in Ohio?

• I live in Columbus, Ohio. I'll be turning 14 next March and would like a summer job in 2011. What're some possible jobs I could have? I know that Kroger allows 14 year olds to work, but my parents won't allow me to work there. (They don't want me working at a place we don't even shop at.... Well, they don't want me pushing carts either.) Anyways, I'd prefer to work at a book store or video game store! :) Mostly a book store, but I'm open for anything. Could I work at the library (instead of a book store)? Also, if there aren't any "real" jobs I could work at, I'll be volunteering at the hospital or animal shelter. How would I be go about with that? Do I call and fill out paper work? Sorry for so many questions, I just don't want to be a lazy bum during the summer... Ha. Thank you for your help in advance! :)

  Good for you! I was a lazy bum at your age, so you should be proud. Anyway, if you volunteer at an animal shelter, give them a call about the application process. When I volunteered as a dog walker at my local shelter, I went through training with other volunteers. I really liked it, but be prepared for some hard work if you go that route. My shelter also needed people to play with kittens (tough work, right?), but those assignments usually went to older ladies. They might also need help with filing and other clerical work, or cleaning kennels and the shelter itself. Enjoy your summer job!
