Have you been demoted from your position at your current job?

Should I quit my current job or work 2 jobs?

  • After 6 months of being unemployed, I finally got a job at the local mall in the bakery. I got hired about 3 weeks ago, and I really enjoy my job so far. Its really easy, kickback, I have a convenient schedule, and I get to spend 75% of my time standing around looking at pretty girls pass by all day =P Also, I've met some cool people/connections that work with me and that work other places at the mall. And we also get to eat/drink for free while we work. The downside is that I get paid minimum wage ($8/hour) plus anywhere from $1-5 in tips a day and only get 25 hours a week...but besides that its a GREAT job. Another place just interviewed me and offered me a job at another shopping mall in town. They wanna start me off at $9, train me to cook filipino food (im half filipino and love filipino girls so this can help me in the future), and if all goes well with my training after 2 months, I can make from $12-15 per hour. If all doesn't go well, I get demoted to cash register and make $8/hour. I was also guaranteed at least 30 hours a week. Should leave my current job for the better paying one or should I try and work 2 jobs? I like where I'm at now but it would be more beneficial to work at a higher paying one...If I work two jobs, I don't want to be burnt out everyday either so I'm not sure..Should I try it out for a little or just stick to one? If you guys have worked two jobs before, tell me how your experience was doing so...I also am taking the bus to work so that has to be considered when deciding to work both or not. Also if I give my boss a one weeks notice (the other job want me to start in a week), what should I tell him? Should I just be straight up and tell him I got a better job offer? I want to leave on a good note that way if things don't work out at this new job or in the future, I will at least have a chance to come back & work here. Should I make up something like I'm moving out of town for a bit? If you guys were in my position, what would you do?

  • Answer:

I think you should ask your "new job" for a trial period. If you're going to make that much I think they would be up for it. See if you can handle it.
