How the hell am I supposed to get a job when these online recruitment processes reject me before a human...?
-
...even sees my CV? If I don't get a job by the 6th September I am going to end up on job seekers allowance, something I really don't want to happen. I've tried applying to the fast food restaurants for jobs but all of them require you to apply online now and I can never get past the only recruitment process, seems I always fail the computerised assessment so a Human never even gets to view my CV. And it it's not just fast food, a lot of places expect these online recruitment processes now and the problem is I always fail that initial assessment test so a Human NEVER gets to see my ******* CV. How the **** am I supposed to get a job when more and more companies run a system I simply cannot get passed? And if you go up to a Human: "Go on the website" "But..." "Website" I'm so desperate for a job. It's bad enough there's a recession, jobs are lacked as there is and it makes it worse that every job I do find, a COMPUTER gets to decide whether I'm good enough for the job or not and ALWAYS decides against me. I have good grades, I have work experience, I've volunteered and none of this is seen by potential employers because a computer gets to decide whether my CV should even be viewed, a CV I put effort into, a CV never viewed because I can never pass these 30min assessments they make you go through that I always fail. I have a part-time casual job that simply cannot pay the bills, but it gives me all the experience I'd need for getting a job in a McDonalds and if only a Human could just get a look at my CV but no. **** you, get on the benefit system and be despised by everyone. Okay that sounds a lil weak as I've been on Income Support the past year but Income Support atleast had dignity, I in some sense earnt it, if I went to college I got my IS, if didn't, I didn't get my IS, I was furthering my education. All what job seekers says is I'm a loser who no one will employ and no matter what my circumstances, people won't care, they'll despise me no matter what my circumstances. How the hell am I supposed to find a job when these online recruitment processes always decide my CV is worthless before letting a Human view it?

Answer:
With the high number of unemployed at the moment, it is an employer's market. Get someone whom you trust to look through your CV with you and focus on the individual jobs when applying. You need to target their respective business, but try not to be too cliché. Learn too what needs to be disclosed and what does not need to be disclosed.

Hey, It can definitely be tough just now however there are definitely jobs out there so hone your job search technique & you'll get there. First, What do you really want to do? Passion and interest (or lack of it) can show in applications and CVs as well as (I feel) more important aspect of keeping you motivated as you're looking to pursue something that you're interested in. Second, Have someone look at your CV - you should adjust your CV for each job you go for and focus on the skills that are required by that organisation/for that position. To get through recruitment sites with your CV it's worthwhile including a 'white box' of key words related to the specific role (a small space on your CV like a tag cloud that you can leave open or put it in a white font so it's invisible to human eye but computers pick them up) Third, What feedback are you getting on the assessments? It may be that you aren't suitable for the types of jobs you're going for - if so,what other things do you want to consider? (I feel you're pain here - B&Q won't have me as a shelf stacker as I don't follow rules very well!! - hence why I'm self employed now ;-) ) Fourth, Don't just wait for vacancies to be advertised - decide who you would like to work with & why, find out lots about the company (website, phone them, go in & talk to the folk there, find out the name of someone responsible for recruitment) and go direct - employers like to see confidence. I've known a number of people who have by passed the official need for applying online by going in person, knowing their objective and chatting to the relevant person. Fifth, Get feedback on any progress- contact the employers and ask why you aren't being successful and work on this information. Lastly, Keep your spirits up - employers are inundated with applicants just now and while that doesn't excuse not getting back to people please don't take it personally. I don't know where you live but I know there are several funding opps for people on no/low income so consider taking advantage of these to continue learning & upskilling - it shows you have inititiative, helps keep you motivated and will do nothing but good for your future career progression. Good luck!!

Why bother to use them. There are no jobs that is why you do not get anywhere. These sites keep job vacancies up when they have long since been filled, all the online job sites do it. You need to use jobcentre plus or go into an Agency such as Adecco. My husband used to use the online catering sites until one kind soul told him the jobs advertised had been filled months ago. So chin up, it's nothing to do with you or your CV. UK
