How do I become a receptionist?

How do you become a secretary/receptionist..do i have to go to school for it?

  • Im 18 and graduated from HS in june and Iv decided that I want to be a receptionist/secretary.. Im wondering do i have to go to school to become a receptionist/secretary...how long will it take? it doesn't really matter where it could be anywhere... like a dental office, medical office, salon etc..and do i really need to know how to type fast?..im a decent typer im not slow but im not fast...and what other qualifications do you need? thanks :)

I would suggest taking a free local tyoing class atleast. Check with your unemployment office for programs available. You should consider taking computer concepts class at local technical school. If you're wanting to be a receptionist in a medical facility, you need to get your medical assistants license. It would help to get some little customer service job and work there while your taking typing etc. That way you have some experience to brag about on your application/resume.
