Where can I get free career counseling?

How does someone get into a counseling career, mainly for adolescentes?

• I'm interested in psychiatry and in helping "troubled" or distraught youth with whatever problem or obstacles some may have. But I have not idea where or how I would start my education for a career like that, or which ways or subjects there may be within that career.. Also, I would not want to go to medical school. Thanks.

  Take some psychology and counseling classes. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor but a certified counselor or psychologist isn't normally (not that they couldn't be). Normally you will find psychologists working with psychiatrists handling their 'group sessions', etc. You might go talk to a guidance counselor at your school, and even put together some questions and call on a psychologist or career counselor and interview them about their job including what it takes to get there and be good at their job.
