Looking to become a firefighter?

Do you think i have a good chance becoming a firefighter so far?

• so right now i am a sophmore in high school about to be a junior and for this summer i am looking to join a fire cadet program. For next year i am doing scroc and first semester i am doing a first responder class then 2nd semester for scroc i am doing my EMT. Then once i go to college i am going to do all my fire science classes. I started to lift weights daily and its been my 2nd week doing that. I play basketball so i am fit and i am starting to run 3 miles everyday after school. also for my senior year my counselor said if i wanted to become a firefighter i should take sign language since that would soon be recommended. So for scroc i am going to do to sign language 1 for 1st semester and sign language 2 for the second then i would graduate highschool. do you think i will have a good chance? i am asking because i heard it is really hard to become a firefighter and a lot of people don't get in, and since i a white i have a lower chance. I don't want to take all these classes then it will be for nothing in the future. and i am screwed. What happens if i do all this stuff and i am done with college and i can't become a firefighter? i would want to be a cop for my second choice.
