What are some good paying jobs?

  • I am thinking about going back to school and everything I seem to be interested in seems like a unreachable goal or that there is no jobs in the field or it might not be something i want to do etc. So I want to get a idea of what some good paying jobs are with a degree or without. I really don't have any talents or such I am a pretty good writer, good with horses and love researching on certain things and writing notes etc. What might be something for me I don't know so any tips would be great. I have always been interested in crime stuff and studying the who what and why.

You really need to define "good paying". I'm guessing you mean in the $30-50K range (in the median/average wage ballpark). With the interests that you stated, I would say paralegal. It involves legal thinking joined with writing and research skills. It is typically only takes a two year course at your local community college to become certified. If you like math then accounting/bookkeeping is not a bad choice either. It starts out with a 2 year degree with at a community college (for a bookkeeper) and goes up from there. Though you don't breach to the big bucks until you get some post bachelor's education and pass the CPA exam. If you get a joint CPA/JD (which is offered at a lot of post graduate accounting schools) you can represent people in front of the IRS and in tax court (or even work for the IRS). I'd avoid computer programing stuff, as they are now a dime a dozen and most computer science grads end up doing help desk work for $10-$15 an hour (translates to $21k-$31k a year). Healthcare is a growing hirer, but the wages tend to be a bit stagnant and the lower end workers (anything under a RN and 4+ years of school) are quite underpaid (as in $30k and less a year). If you don't mind physical labor, then factory work can be quite well paying (starting out at over $15 an hour) with no education beyond high school needed to start.
