What's a good part-time job to apply for with few hours?

Is it fair to ask for 24-48 hours to think about a job offer?

  • Ok here's the scenario - I'm a heavy equipment vehicle mechanic in the US Air Force and I'm retiring next March. I have an interview with a position as a mechanic for a trash company tomorrow morning. I feel very confident about this interview and if they decide to offer me the job - is asking for 24-48 hours to think about the offer fair ? This job would allow me to remain in the town that i live in and i would be able to see my kids graduate high school. here's what i'm up against. I'm also in the hunt to get a mechanic job overseas. that job will pay me a lot more money, but i dont have an actual job offer yet. whats a good way of telling a potential employer that you're considering other offers? i dont want them to feel like they're going to be my "plan b" if the overseas thing doesnt work out; but on the other hand I'd love to stay in town and this would be a great chance to offer my kids a stable life. so i'm asking the yahoo community - what say you ?
