What careers are there in music?

  • What careers are there that involve music? Obviously there's a music teacher and musican, but I also want to know about jobs such as a radio host or music supervisor. Any ideas/occupations would be great :)

    To get into radio you must network, network, network. You don't need a music degree to get into the radio business, just a personally. If you want to work behind the scenes you need to acquire a bachelor's degree in media/film. You could also go into management and work on the business side of music. Or promotions and help bands promote music. You could maybe start out by approaching new musicians to see if you could help them promote their music and sell their merchandise. There's also music videos as well. Also, breaking into radio production doesn't always require a degree. Just do some research into radio stations in your town and see what their requirements are for the on-air talent they hire. They might also hire people for office work or for production work. Working in radio doesn't pay that well, though, unless you become really famous or own a radio station...or maybe if you work in advertising.
