How do you write a really good CV?

How do I write a good CV?

  • I need to write a CV for the first time in 10 years, I have managed the easy parts but am struggling on the section where I need to put a little bit about myself. It is for childcare, I am a level 3 NVQ, patient, friendly, and am positive in challenging situations but just cant seem to put it all in a good enough way. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Answer:

I usually put a skills summary in rather than details about me in a person profile type entry. This list will show the skills you have and is at the top of your CV so it catches the recruiters attention quickly and tells then what they need to know about you and your suitability for the job. I also change the list about, or add and delete things, if the job I am applying for requires different skills or the emphasis is on a different area of my experience. The list is simply a bullet pointed list of your skills and experience. I.e. * 5 years childminding experience * Fully qualified in First Aid * Proven ability to work under pressure. Good luck.
