Help.. I don't know which career I want to choose?
-
Okay. I love art so much. I've been drawing since I was 7, and I love to be the one that is "that guy who can draw really good." Like you know how in school, the teacher assigns you partners for a group project, and it feels good when they say "yesss we gotta good artist in our group!" Haha. Plus I love how I can express ANYTHING, existing or not, through drawing. And what's better than this, is ANIMATING. Omg. I love animating. It is the best thing ever. You can make your own stories and make them come to life. So for college, I wanted to be a CGI animator. You know, things likes the animations in Transformers 1, 2 and 3 (the movies), such as the tansformers, special effects, explosions, etc. .. BUT... I play the alto sax. All my teachers tell me I am extremely amazing. I made 1st chair all district (alto sax). They say I need to go and dominate the highschoolers instead (lol). Ok, I really hate sounding c*cky, so I'll just get to the details. I am about to play a Jazz gig with my school band, and I have 7 solos in it. 4 of it is improvisation. I love making up songs from the top of my head, and playing already-invented songs, and write my own music. And my favorite part is the activities. I have a fettish with being busy. I love to be busy, just getting out the house, doing things with my life, meeting all these new, really kind people. I come from a school full of idiots.. I'm in 8th grade, 13 years old, and there's 2 gangs there, and someone from my school just robbed a bank with a gun in his hand. Wtf. And I noticed when meeting great players, they are so full of intelligence. I love composing my own music, getting a lead sax solo, and I wanna learn even more instruments, especially trumpet. I wanna play gig after gig after gig. My band director today just took me to a banquet today, to see how gigs work, and everyone was so friendly. It was amazing. It seems so fun. Art is so overwhelming, and you can make any story you want. But I really want to animate, but I hear it's hard to find a job :/ . And saxophone is so fun. Gigs and solos and being known by nice people. But I don't wanna put art into a waste.. I still have a lot of time. I am 13 years old, thinking early for what I want to do when college comes. What should I do? What gets more money.. or is there a way I can combine both careers..? :O (Sorry if I made any typos.)

Answer:
I wouldn't rush to choose just yet, many people change their minds halfway through college. Mostly you just want to do something that makes you happy and does not feel tedious. Work can be a joy and fun. Aim for that, not money (because you'll be miserable). You might be surprised at the options awaiting you. I like design, and thats what I do. Its a good field and it pays well if you can do it! and never underestimate what you can do!
