Covering letter for a job application?

I'm looking for a Saturday job, do I need a covering letter?

  • I'm looking for a Saturday job. I know covering letters are usually to do with a specific application, on why you want that job etc, but I'm handing my CV's out to lots of shops. Do I need to have a covering letter to go with the CV? If so, how can I make apply generally and not to a specific job? Thanks

  • Answer:

IMO, you really only need a cover letter if you're mailing your CV to a prospective employer in response to an advertisement for a specific job opening. If you're going to walk in and apply in person, you don't need a cover letter.

If you are just handing your CV out willy nilly your most likley not to get a job. you need to phone and talk to someone. Then send CV AND letter
