I need help with getting my first part time job.

I'm 17 and I need help writing a resignation letter to quit my part time job?

  • so i'm going to quit my part time job cos i need more time for school and i only get one 3 hour shift a week there/they keep taking shifts off me. i'm over it and i just want it to be one less thing i have to worry about. this will be the first job i'm quitting. and should i ask for a reference in the letter? or in person when i give my manager the letter? so, how should i write my resignation letter? i tried searching for examples but i don't really like them and they seem too formal for a part time job and when i tell them i'm quitting do i just say i'm leaving? i don't really know what to say.. any help would be good, thanks :)

    Really, part time employees arent required to give letters of resignation, but if you want to do it, the best idea, given that you'd like a good reference, is to simply state that the demands of your schoolwork have made it impossible for you to continue working, so you're regretfully resigning. When you turn it in, ask if you can use the manager as an employment reference. An actual reference letter is a rarity. Just have his name and number available if he agrees to be a good reference

Seems you are over reacting about leaving a 3 hour a week job. I'm sure a verbal discussion with your supervisor that you are leaving and will work the next two weeks if they want you. Thank them for the opportunity of working with them and ask if a reference would be possible in the future.
