Online Jobs for High School Students?

How do part-time jobs work for High School students?

  • I'm 16, have a drivers license, and I have a few places I live very close to (McDonald's, Starbucks, Taco Bell, and a few grocery stores) that are accepting applications for low-level jobs. I really need some cash, but I'm worried about if I'm going to have time to balance my school work and the job. How many hours will I be expected to work a week? Is it possible for me just to get jobs for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which are my "lighter" homework/obligation days? This is all just speculation of course, but I'm trying to figure out if it's even worth me applying for a job if I'm not going to meet their standards as far as coming in a certain # of days/hours a week, etc. So if anyone has any experience with working as a High School student and balancing schoolwork, any advice would be great :) Thanks.

  • Answer:

I'm doing that right now :) according to the law you can only work 3 hours school nights and 8 hours non school days. You cant really decide what days you get but... its not too bad. You can't say you're really busy and have a lot of homework because everyone's in the same boat.
