Would you take a job that's fun or a job that could change a life?
-
I'm seriously torn between two jobs, both of which are very different from each other: Nursing or Culinary. If I became a Registered Nurse, I know that I'd choose to go into the ICU / NICU or Trauma. With a job like a Registered Nurse, I could have the chance to save or change a life and make a real difference in someone's life. I've always kind of looked at nurses as the real heroes in the medical field. I've got a strong stomach as far as blood, bones, organs and other bodily fluids go. I'm really interested in the job, especially with the chance to make a difference in a life out there. Pastry Chef is the other job I'm kind of in love with. It would be so fun to go to school for 4 years to cook, get a job just to cook, and then maybe one day have the chance to go Europe to study with culinary experts or have my own dessert shop or something. But I couldn't change a life as a pastry chef, not even for the biggest sugar addict or toughest food critic or a struggling restaurant owner. Not even if I gave a restaurant the chance to have like five stars. It would be a fun job, and it would turn my hobby into a job. Would you take a job that you're interested in and could change/save a life with? Or would you snatch up the chance to take your hobby as a paying job?

Well i would say do what makes YOU happy (if its for a career) as long as it dosent harm anyone elss!! but thats just me lol
Do the one you love. I know so many adults that hate their jobs and wish they pursued a job they loved. When you love a job ( like the pastry chef job) you're not really working in a way. I can't force you to pick but the pastry job sounds amazing and fun! Being a nurse isn't bad but regretting not taking a job in the future that you loved would be torture. Not many people get to do the job they've always wanted. And who knows maybe one day you'll be the top pastry chef in wherever you live! Maybe own a chain of stores! :)
Are you absolutely certain that making pastry hour after hour, day after day is something you could happily do? In the beginning you would be under the supervision of a more senior chef because you would be required to follow company procedures in the way that you work. You cannot follow your own recipes. You have to comply with the company way of doing things.
