How does this resignation (quitting) letter look? 5 Stars!?

  • I am a 22 year old female, I have worked as a support worker for adults with disabilities for 5 months full time, I also had a partime job as a security gaurd, they offered me the supervising position so I decided to take it. i have never written a resignation letter, so let me know how it sounds, or what I should change. Michelle Honeyman, I am writting this to inform you I will no longer be working at Dasch. This was not an easy desision to make but after much consideration, I have decided to accept a supervising position offered by the company I currently work for, and I think it best I only work one job at this time. Although I haven't worked at Dasch as long as I would of like to, I have really enjoyed working here, the staff and managment are some of the nicest I've met, and all will be missed. My last shift will be on Friday February 3rd, two weeks from today. I am grateful for the rewarding experience I've had here. Thanks for everything. All the best, Jessica Blaire Ps: I've Also let a friend from College know about Dasch, She may have already sent in her resume; Jane Woodsworth, I think she would be a great fit and would really enjoy working here.

    Are you working both jobs at the same time? Do you mean your previous job? Most resignation letters don't tell why you are leaving or where you are going. Generally they are one or two sentences.

Everything looks fine. Don't forget to put a greeting or salutation. Try to put the date of your last shift in the beginning of your letter; like "I will not be working at ____ effective February 3rd." You could also offer to be of any assistance during your transition at the end of your letter.

I think it looks great! You always want to focus on the positive, thank them for the opportunity they provided you, and say when your last day will be. The only change would be to leave off the PS. You'll be handing in your resignation in person so you can just tell her about your friend.
