My Mother is Making Me Get a Job?

• Please read the whole story im 16 Years old and my mom said if i dont get job she wont let me do anything except school, extra curriculars, and home. which i would be fine with but i have so many things going on already, i dont really think anyone would hire me, and even if i did get hired i dont think i would be able to handle it, which i tried explaining to my mother, but she wont Listen. i have practice at least two days a week, sometimes more, which isnt on set days its randomly throughout the week, and our coach usually tells us one or two days before when the practice will be. also i am a member of a club that meets once a week on wednesdays from right after school until 6. im taking two honors classes which involve a lot of homework so i have to have time for that, and there is no way that i can work saturdays because i have volleyball tournaments every saturday until april. i told all of this to my mom but she says im just making excuses, but legitimately believe that i would not be able to handle all of this. what should i do? where could i get a job? who would hire me? im not looking for someone to tell me that mommy knows best, i understand that she does want whats best for me and she wants me to help out with the bills and that she wants me to understand the value of money. what im asking is: a. what could i say to her to convince her that i cannot handle all of the things im already doing plus a job on top of that or b. who would hire me, where can i look for a job that would hire me without having to quit my extra curriculars

  I would draw up what a typical week looks like for you. Put all your practices, homework time, and club meetings into a calendar. This will help you and your other see exactly how busy you are. You could also see if she's open to an alternative, maybe it's possible for you to accept more responsibility around your home, in order to earn an allowance. With this, there is no extra income coming into the house, but you're still earning your own way, and your mom will have more free time as well. As for the job, some places will not hire anyone under 18. I'm not sure where you live, so I don't know what kind of employment opportunities are available. In my neck if the woods, the only job a 16 year old is going to get is at McDonalds or another fast food restaurant. Unless they have a connection to a smaller business.
