What does a marine biologist do?

  • i love working with animals or sea animals, what do marine biologist do? dont want a job that cleans poop yuk sorry, like feeding or training sea animals. how much do they make? how long does in college to become that? like working with dolphins for example dont want to work with a job that i can get hurt or attack lol

  • Answer:

Basically, a marine biologist is a scientist who studies life within the ocean. This is a very general term that can be split into even further groups like oceanographer etc. They would be studying things from whales to plankton, from behavior to patterns and you can imagine. Depending on who you want to work for, and what you want to specialize in, you would get different salaries. If you are working for the government, an average salary would be about 100,000 a year, maybe a bit more or less plus a lot of vacations and expenses covered. It's a cool job but you need a whole lot of schooling and experience in zoos and whatsoever and so for the first few years, it is likely that you will be cleaning up poop and stuff like that. Hope this helped.

Do your research. Just because you like something - it could be a bad idea to take it. There are schools full of people taking marine bioligy. But very little jobs. Please be careful and do your reasearch. You don't want a career that has only one open spot for every 10,000 college graduates. /

They basically study sea animals, not necessarily work with them.
