What career should I take?

I Dont know what Career direction to take?

  • Hey I am in Secondary School, I I don't have a clue what type of career direction I should take. This is terrible because in a week I will have to choose my subjects for my Leaving Cert. (Irish equivalent to the UK's GCSE's). I would love to work at designing things, Thats what I most like to do,I'm very artistic and love painting, but I also don't mind anything business orientated. My Favorite Academic subjects in school are Art, Geography and French, Im quite good at Maths and Sciences but there not my favorite subjects ( as it takes me a while to learn anything from them). I also like economics. ( All the above subjects I got a B or A in Honors Higher Level,... I sware im not bragging.lol :) I'd preferably not want a career that involves sitting a whole day in front of a computer and I'd like a career that involves talking and communicating with others. Maybe from that you could help Me work something out for my future career. Thanks for your help :-)

    Hi I am currently doing my GCSE and I have no idea what i want to do. If | were you I would work with a designer and test the product to see how people like it, and what needs to be changed. Ma bee in the future you could become a designer.

Urgh, I'm in the same place, only I've completed my A Levels and I still don't know where I'm going. I'm much like you, I'm very creative. If you love designing things and are quite business oriented you might want to try graphic design, though there IS a lot of computer work involved. Personally I got very bored by it, but I'm more interested in character and games design than advertise for nutrition bars. ^^; BUt don't worry too much right now, take a varied range of subjects if you're not sure so you don't close of any possibilities you might want to explore later. You're young, just make sure you go talk to people in fields you're interested in and ask them how they got there. Don't let your school shoehorn you into a degree when you may not need one or don't know what you want to do. There's no rush to set a path now, you have years ahead of you to do that.
