Where to get work permit?

Where can I get a work permit in my situation? (please read)?

• Hey, My mom and I are going through a rough time with money. She cant stop crying and I feel guilty. I am 14 and I was wondering where can I get a work permit? I am home schooled and I am suppose to be in the 9th grade because I repeated 6th grade but I am in the 8th grade instead. I heard certain middle schools give out work permits. But I am home schooled. I live in southern california. So can somebody give me info on where I can get a work permit?

  First sweetheart, Don't ever feel guilty. What you and your mother are going thru are no different then thousands of people are going thru right this second. Even I break down and cry at times and my daughter comes over and gives me a hug. She tells me that everything is going to be alright and that she loves me. When she does that it sure feels nice to know that she cares about me. Do that sometime to your mom. It will make her feel better. Your situation might not change but she will feel better. There is nothing wrong with being home schooled but in the position that you and your mother are in it may be best if you started going to a public school. They have all type of programs for low income single moms. I am a single parent (father) and my 12 year old get free meals at her school both breakfast and lunch. You, yourself will meet many other kids your own age and you all can compare notes and help with solving each others problems. My daughter does this all the time. She comes home and says Dad so and so's dad is working over here and they have an opening for another employee. Ask friends and neighbors about what church is handing out "Food" boxes. With local churches these boxes are free. Then call your state social service and they have several programs that you and your mother qualify for. Food stamps, I get a food card and they renew it once a month. Then there is TANF. This is usually a few hundred dollars a month that is available for low income people. You can draw up to 5 years depending on what state you live in. And there is heating assistance which is available. Ask your mother if she is on any of these programs. If she isn't then tell her to call social services. Not all your problems will be solved but lets say cut down to size. One other thing some times churches will help with donations to help pay your electric bills. Don't be proud in not calling. Give them a call. It could save your mother a nice chunk of money every month and that will relieve some of her depression (crying). Now about the work card, yes you can get a work permit from your state but you will only be able to work less then 15 hours a week. It really will not benefit you to get a job working with such few hours. Your mother needs you right now. Talk to her and see what she says. Look, there is something that I need to say. I didn't want to take any type of free hand out. I thought that I wouldn't be much of a man if I did. People would say that I couldn't support my daughter. I heard it all. But when you go to these loud mouths and ask them for help and they said "NO". Then you must make up your mind right there and then that you will do what ever it takes to get what you need for your family. Forget those loud mouths because one day it may be them coming to you asking for help. Just remember this - you help them! No matter what if you can help them then you do it. God will reward you for it. Also get your mother online and let her read this. It may give her several other ideas that she may not have thought about.
