A job that you enjoy or a job that pays well?
-
I'm a student working in a part-time job. I just got hired last month in a retail store that I absolutely love! I am definitely enjoying my job right now, but it is very tiring. I feel that it is physically draining me. On top of that, the pay is minimum wage. Now, my mom is offering me a job that pays way better than my current job! However, I feel that this job is going to be boring as I had an experience on it before. I used to be a receptionist and a secretary's assistant in a divorce company, but the job was just so boring that I almost committed suicide! (Well, not literally) Anyway, the job that my mom is offering me is in a hospital. It may be a different environment, but she is offering me a very similar job. A hospital clerk? I'm not gonna lie, I like sitting all day beside the phone and getting paid for it. Who wouldn't, right? So the problem is, my current job may only keep me as their seasonal sales associate, but my manager said she is willing to keep me depending on my performance, and so far I think I'm doing great! On the other hand, the job that my mother is offering me is a permanent part-time job and also pays more than twice of my salary now. HELP!!! I don't know if I should accept my mom's offer!

What is your ultimate goal? If you want to be a manager in retail, or work customer service, then you should stay where you are. If you have higher aspirations, take the job that pays more and has the greatest chance of making contacts that can help you later. The hospital is a great place to start if you want to work in health care. Working as a hospital clerk is probably more challenging than being a receptionist for a divorce lawyer. You would be responsible for people lives- ie, making sure you give the correct chart for each patient, keeping test results straight, dealing with patients. You will have to be able to adapt quickly and be on top of your game. If you want less responsibility, stay where you are.
well to get promoted at a hospital you would need to get a medical degree if your promoted so i would stay with the job you have since you like it and could get promoted
Maybe you could work both jobs, on a schedule your managers will accept.
