What should I wear to this interview?

  • Well, I am 14 and looking for a simple summer job. I have been going to Boy Scout summer camp for about 3 years now and I decided that it is a great place to work for about 4 weeks and as soon as I found out that 14 year olds are allowed to join I decided that I would go ahead and apply for it. Well, I have submitted my application, and my friend who is coming along with me also submitted her application. Our interview is on next Saturday and according to the email it will be held from 9-11 for specified reasons. So, what should I wear to this interview? I mean, I'm only 14 and compared to the other people applying me and my friend with probably be the youngest. Should I wear my Boy Scout uniform? A dressy shirt and nice jeans? A suit? And also, my friend who is coming along is 14 and is a girl, obviously not a Boy Scout so she cannot wear the Boy Scout uniform. What would you suggest she wear? Thank you for any responses they will really help!

    I would suggest something sporty and out going , considering your job is summer camp job. Remember dress for the job :) wear something comfortable

Wearing your Scout Uniforms may say to the interviewer your age but then again they may see it as you are showing initiative. Its really a toss up on that. But if you decide on regular clothes go with a dressy shirt and slacks and dress shoes - polished. For the young lady again if she decides on regular clothes a dressy shirt, a skirt that is either to the knees or longer, PANTYHOSE and dress shoes -- yes polished. No heavy make up, perfumes or cologne -- u want to smell nice but not so over powering you give the interviewer a headache. After deciding how to dress have answers to such questions as All your answers should be very positive and do not be afraid to brag a bit about yourself. 1. Why do you want to work for our camp? This on is easy this is your camp there is going to be plenty of great reasons to work there and don't be afraid to show your enthusiasm. 2. What makes you the best candidate for the job? You have to make yourself stand out, not I am the best at everything type of answer but things that make you unique. Go so far as to ask your friends what they think make you stand out and be you. Mom and Dad too, they always have good things to say. 3. Why should we hire you? Give them an answer that shows them you are bringing something special to the camp by hiring you. 4. Tell me a few things about yourself? Make a brief statement that highlights your Scouting achievements, future goals and potential contributions you could make to the camp. Avoid your name, your birth date, where you live, how many brothers and sisters you have and where you go to school. 5. What are you weaknesses? Be positive turn a weakness into a strength and be sure you follow the weakness with what you are doing to improve it. 6. What are your strengths? Aim this answer towards the job you are applying for. If they say something about you being young and working already make sure you have an answer for that too?
