What career should go for?

What career should I go into? (UK) Please read and help?

  • Hello everyone, I am 19 years old I live in Cambridgeshire which is in England, I have never had paid employment and I am currently unemployed, I don't go to college or have a job. I have got 18 months of work experience (Voluntary) I have worked at the Co-Op and at Tesco. I have recently started as a volunteer at Oxfam, and I have just handed in an application form to be a Youth worker/Play leader and I would be working with children and young people in the sports area. I have got a mild learning difficuly, at school I only got 2 GCSE's I got a G in maths and an E in Art and Design- I have just recently started taking a level 2 qualification maths maths, and I have already got an Adult Level 2 in Literacy. I have got a level 1 in football coaching, but I haven't got any football coaching experience. I would like to become a Youth Worker and work with children and young people. But what career do you think I should go for, how do I get into youth work and how do I go about taking training courses? Am I too stupid to get into youth work? What is the kind of job/career that I should be aiming for? Thank you in advance for all of the help, I am greatful.

  • Answer:

My advice is go to college, retake English whilst doing a course. You Need to be police checked before working with children. So if you have a criminal record then you can't do it end of. I'd suggest going to an adult learning centre and booking a connections meeting.
