Looking for job as police officer, criminal record?

What do you do in the mean time when you have to wait years for your dream job?

  • Basically I want to become a police officer, I am already a volunteer officer (specials) and have been for awhile and have gained a lot of good experience as a result and some bad experience I would like to forget ( uk riots). I'm looking at least having to volunteer for 2-5 years more before I get a chance of a paying police officer job. I have tried looking for similar jobs that use the same skills and no vacancies anywhere. I work four part time low skilled jobs as I have been unable to find any full time work for the last two years (apparently no body wants a 25 year old university graduate in business and people management who can speak / learning chinese mandarin). I have applied to thousands of jobs (no exaggeration as I have kept a record of all cv sent to whom and where/ when) over the years and had little luck with the exception of the irregular part time jobs. I still live at home with my parents and already travelled the world (on a very tight budget) in the hope that the economy would sort its self out when I was away (what a stupid idea that was). I don't want to go back into education as I know it is a waste of time compared actually doing the job. Im considering learning another language like polish or french to try and get a career job in the UK. what would you do with the 5 years waiting for the job you really want? Thanks
