What are good first jobs to get?

My first job was in a restaurant, & loved it. Had friends there so time passed quicker, got to eat free food at times, or discounted, quickly moved from dishwashing to food preparation, to busing tables (& meeting waitresses), to prep cooking (helping the cooks) to a little cooking in about 1-1 1/2 yrs. Even if you hate the idea of doing dishes you can usually move up the line quickly. Otherwise, maybe the job depends on where you are & the weather conditions? Landscaping. Carpenter's helper. Warehouse worker. And make sure you present yourself well. DO look good, so you'll stand out. Even if it's a grocery store job...wear a tie anyway...it tells them you respect the store & job. Look them in the eye. Listen more than you talk, in fact don't say much & give thoughtful honest but not too honest answers. Let them know you have good goals for yourself, but don't tell them you hope to dump them soon for something better.

My first job was as a waitress over weekends when I was still in high school. I spent the money on clothes, make up and treats. I also worked in a sweet shop. That was a nice job. You can eat all the sweets you want.
