Whats going to happen when jobs are lost to technology?

  • What will happen when the number of people working is so low that their taxes can't support those people who have lost their jobs due to technology ? I mean we have already seen technology take jobs from markets like car makers where workers have been replaced by robots and now 3d printing is staring to take off so in a few years you will be able to print off items you want thus not needing to go to the shop theres jobs lost there technology seems to be taking more and more jobs every year hat it now seems inevitable that the economy is going to reach a point where it will no longer work and whats going to happen are people going to be left starving to death on streets

    Skills upgrading is the key here. Yes, machines may take over human but humans manage the machines. One need to move on with technologies.

So, exactly who is designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining these robots and 3d printers that you speak of? I do see your point about manufacturing efficiency vs employment

People have been saying this since the early 1900's. I just saw a clip a few weeks ago of a 1950's movie where a computer was replacing the office workers. It has happened in several cases, but the domes day predictions that it would happen on a large scale by the 1980's never happened. So yeah it might happen, but good thing the people from the past didn't hold their breath for it.
