Career advice Flight attendant or Estate Agent?
-
Heya ! Okay so i have a problem :/ Basically in less than 2 yrs me and my lovely mummy will be moving from england to spainn (woop!) im learning spannish now lols x Anyways, when we move there i will be ready to start college (like 6thform, i will be 16) && basically i dont know what i want to do career wise! I think f/a would be amazing cause of the travel and ive studied up on it a kit and it sounds amazing!! But then i would be leaving my mum alone a lot ); && Then estate agent, i know the real estate business in spain (much like the screw up of cabin crew!) is bad atm but im hoping it will smooth out in 4 yrs lol! && I think it would be really nice to show homes to people, and its a nice job to have - one that i know i would enjoy PLUS i would get to be near my mum! My mums totally supportive of whatever i choose.. but i dont know! whats you guys' opinions?? which one is more stable? a better "career" (ie promotions), better & more stable pay? Genrally a better choice?? If you work as either i would LOVE to hear what you think! Or should i choose a different career all toghether?? I am in no way limiting myself to these options.. I though of a lawyer but i could not allow myself to fight for a person i personally believe is wrong! I am willing to work hard at whatever i choose, and knowing two languages should be a plus due to the amount of english living in spain! Help me Please ! Love sarah xox

Answer:
Try Both! Do one for a year then do the other! Or better still do a work esperince in an estate agents for two weeks or so for free then get a job as an air hostess and see what lifestyle you like best. http://www.callaways.co.uk/Content/About-Us/Careers-In-Property.aspx

A flight attendant isn't much of a career choice unless you really think you will be happy being a flying waitress for the rest of your career. It's the sort of job most people do for just a few years before moving on to something else after the novelty of visiting different places around the world between flights wears off. Wages are low, the budget airlines don't pay much more than the minimum wage and the work is very repetitive. An estate agent also would have a very low basic wage, but have the opportunity to increase that significantly with commission. Longer term that is probably a questionable career choice too - think about the rising use of the internet by purchasers looking to buy property, that will reduce the number of people needed to work for agents in the future. You have plenty of time to decide - in law for example you would not necessarily need to be a criminal lawyer! There are many other areas of law you could work in that do not involve dealing with criminals.
Once you're in college you'll have opportunities to explore possible careers. You don't have to decide now. Good luck!
No reason not to do both, Sarah. Be a FA while you are young. You will soon learn if you can tolerate people at their worst. If you can then you will have learned a lot to prepare you for Estate Agency / Real Estate work. That's all about people too, though obviously you need an understanding of the property side too (which you can keep up to date). FA isn't great pay, but fun when you're young. For EA/RE the sky's the limit (no pun intended), as it depends what sector you operate in. Multi-million villas, or regular modest housing. Good luck whatever you choose.
