How to describe Walmart customer service rep position on a resume?

  • Working on hubby's resume and I need some help "embellishing" his current job description. He's working right now as a customer service rep at Walmart. He's at the customer service counter taking returns, handling money orders and customer questions. He cleans when necessary. He's also been there a while so he commonly helps the supervisors with extra tasks and such. I'm just having a hard time making this sounds like something resume worthy. Help?

    There's absolutely nothing wrong with "customer service agent" on a resume, especially when it's for the largest retailer in the history of this earth. I might not mention the "cleaning duties", but I'd definitely mention any special duties to assist supervisors. Why does it sound like you may be ashamed of what he does?

When writing a resume (I just read this) make it brief as possible one page only, don't list references,hobbies,don't write any objectives, leave out personal things ie: Martial status, religious preferences, social security # keep your history very short. Don't list any business contacts.Make sure you add your age, a good number where you can be reached, include a professional e- mail address.Do not list work experience, they will ask you if interested. The people that read these resume will not read a long one with all kinds of information, if it is longer than one page they refuse to read this. I am sorry I didn't mean to go on and on about this, but I hope it will help you. What I would say is:. I am 21 years old and presently working at Walmart as a Front desk service representative. Say no more.If the interviewer is interested he will ask about the job functions. Good Luck.
