What is the age requirement to work at Best Buy in Chicago?

Will I be able to work even though I'm not quite old enough?

  • I applied for a job at Best Buy. I live in Canada and the minimum age requirement for working at Best Buy is sixteen. I am fifteen right now but I turn sixteen in less than 6 weeks. I have an interview with them on friday, (in four days). I'm assuming they think I'm sixteen, though they didn't ask for my birth year in the application. Should I tell them I'm only fifteen and risk losing the job? Will they still hire me? or should i just add a few weeks onto my age?

    No. They will not hire you until you are 16. You should call them now and explain that you are only 15 so you are not taking up their time with an interview for a job that you will not be qualified to take.

You could still go to the interview and be honest about your age. Or call them and explain the situation. Let them know that you are very willing to start when you turn sixteen. If they are impressed with you, they might hold your application until then. Good luck.

I doubt they would hire you even at age 16 - you will have to prove your age when you get hired

i dont think they can legally hire you until you are actually 16. well, i know they can't. but if you have really awesome experience and qualifications (im assuming you don't because you are quite young) but if you did they might just dodge it up a bit and hire you anyway, i know of places that have done that. i would tell them that you're only 15 at the interview, but tell them you are pretty close to 16 you can't add a couple of weeks onto your age, because once you have the job you will have to keep doing that until you quit. and then you will have problems with paying taxes n your income and whatever, because you will have lied about your birthdate
