Why are you a barista?

Are there any requirements to become a barista?

A barista is a person who makes and serves the coffees in a cafe shop, right? I was handing out resumes today and I asked if there were any positions available. One of the coffee shops said something along the lines of, "no sorry, we currently only have positions for baristas". ??? what the bloody else would i be applying for at a cafe if not a barista? Do I need some qualification or something that proves I'm capable for the job or something? I thought baristas get on the job training. I mean, they'll only make drinks... Am I missing something here?? I'm 17 years old btw
Answer:

Go to the coffee shop that was talking about the baristas and find the manager. Give him a call and explain everything to him. Being a barista is a good job.
