  I think you making too much of a sales pitch and it's not coming across as genuine as it could. The best cover lets show exactly how you are a good fit for the position. This is what you want (the employer) / these are my qualifications (applicant) in bullet point format. Yes, it takes longer to create a unique cover letter for each job. But you should be in the job market for a shorter period of time.
