Your dad probably feels bad knowing you would have to work to pay for the things you need. You may be able to talk with him and explain that it would actually teach you responsibility and that it's not just about money. Maybe you can have an agreement that so much will go toward things you want and need and so much will go towards your education. You sound like you are willing to work hard. LOTS of kids have been asking that same question and I've been suggesting the same things so hopefully it is helping. Have you tried searching the jobs on Craigslist? Maybe yard work, small painting projects, pet care like dog walking or pet sitting. If you are good in a certain subject, maybe you could tutor. Maybe your parents have friends who would hire you for odd jobs. Research online for ideas. The link I posted offers ideas and interview advice...good things to know when looking for a job. Consider volunteering as a means of gaining experience. Employers like to see that on an application and it may give you the edge you need to get a job over another person. Plus you never know who you might meet...it could lead to a job.

Dont listen to these people this is all spam...you should apply to any department store or restaurant, i know fast food places suck but you have to do what you have to do..first you have to get a worker's permit...you can get that through your school...so you may have to wait a couple months till you get back into school or do some research online google your states name + workers permit and figure out where you can go to get one and then maybe you can go get the application wiht an older friend and maybe bring it home and then if your parents wont sing and you know for sure then forge their signature take it back to the place or school and get the permit so you have it, and then get a job...if that doesnt work then go on craigslist and search for your state try to post things to sell that you may have that you dont want anymore....DO NOT POST YOUR NUMBER OR ADDRESS ON THERE THOUGH!!!!!! You can offer to walk people's dogs in the neighborhoods around you or upper scale neighborhoods near you. Then if you do crafts then there is a site called Etsy where you can sell handmade items. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income: 1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item. 2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour. 3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour. 4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel. 5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee. 6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a "For Lease/Rental" sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage. 7. Become a stand-in-line person for a ticket purchasing agency at various entertainment venues, i.e., theatres, forums, concert sites which involves getting up early and standing in line for the later appearance of a ticket agent who purchases top of the line tickets for a particular popular concert. It requires having access to a cell-phone to notify the ticket agent when your queing number comes up. So, call up you local independent ticket sales agency and offer your services for a fixed hourly fee. Good luck!
