How do I get a part time job?

  • I'm 17 years old, and i live in Ontario, Canada.. and would like to get a part time job. I have no idea where to start though... so I was wondering a few things. How do you apply? What is the best part time job for a 17 year old girl to have? How much do teens usually work on average per week? What is the average income? If you're someone that has/had a part time job during your teen years, please share your experience :)

    first you need to find a part time job that you will like.. how about restaurant crew where you can find all teen who had a part time job like you,you can also have a friend. Ex. Mcdonalds or any restaurant near to your house. 2. cashier in convinience store its easy you just need to scan the bar code and give change if any. how much are you going to earn? it depends how many hours you are willing to work. Its up to you how much do you want to earn. if you have a part time job of course you will have a less salary but if you are full time or had 2-3 diff. jobs you will earn a lot. send resume via email or walk in where you bring resume in stores or fill up application form. Most places accept online applications as well as paper applications (you go into the place you want to work, ask for an application, fill it out and take it back). As for the best job, I guess that depends. You're likely looking at food service or retail with no experience at 17. I worked at Tim Hortons starting when I was 14, the hours were extremely flexible. Teens worked anywhere from 8 to 40 hours per week depending on availability (more in the summer when they weren't in school). The average income is going to be student minimum wage (if you're under 18 and working less than 28 hours per week) or adult minimum age otherwise (I think student wage in Ontario right now is $9.50 per hour and adult wage is $10.25 per hour unless it's been increased again) less taxes of course.
