How do you become a casting agent?

My parents don't support my dream to become an actress? please could I have advice from adults? please help?

If you are just a kid like me then maybe you could ask your mom or dad what they would do in this situation, thank you! :) So my ultimate DREAM is to become an actress, go to Hollywood, and live out my favorite dream, but the point is that my parents literally have made me cry whenever I mentioned it. Especially my mom. She tells me I'm young and naive and basically calls me dumb. & at school kids make fun of me or call me ugly, stupid, retarded, 9/11 girl (its my birthday except 1998) & Chinese girl ( but I'm Asian, but not Chinese).. She says its just a stupid dream. She says "Every girl wants to be on TV," as if shes asking why am I so special? I am a Catholic, and I believe I have God on my side, and I believe he has called me to do this & never give up. Just typing this makes me feel like I want to cry because I have so much passion and to not be able to do & it breaks me apart inside. My mom said if I like to act she'll let me act. So I signed up for drama classes in middle school, which I am in right now & I am about to go into 8th grade. I'm so upset, I feel like time is just falling out of my hands and each second I wait I just wanna explode. I told myself when I was little, by age 14 I'd be in Hollywood, acting & having the best fun time of my life. my parents also hate cities btw except my dad, so they won't even let me go to audition. They don't believe in me at ALL . and every time I bring it up they roll their eyes, sometimes laugh in my face....Some people say I should just wait until I'm good enough. They just don't UNDERSTAND me. Its so FRUSTRATING. Can't they see!? I've wanted to do this since I was 10 years old. I feel like there is no time and NOWHERE to improve & tell my parents my mom is so judgmental, but my dad said I'm good. && It still breaks my heart. My mom says I'm living in a fantasy world. she said even if I DID go audition, I'd have to miss school, and if nothing worked out, I'd have to go back to my hometown, and I would of missed a bunch of school. Plus I don't even know how to prove to her I can do this, Because I don't know where to get started. I can't DO anything without a parent. I know the first step is to get in training & then get an agent for casting calls, but I just can't. There's too many sleazy scammers out there. PLEASE help me. as a child looking for guidance. PLEASE. and do not tell me to give it up. do not tell me that. thank you.

Sweetie, sadly for every girl that makes it in Hollywood, thousands of others don't. And they are all bright and talented too. It's just how it is. Those girls wait tables or worse to make money to pay the bills while waiting for their "big break". Having dreams is important but understanding that not all dreams can and do come true is even more important. What is your back up plan? You need to study your acting as well as doing your schoolwork. You need to be able to pay your bills while waiting on your chance to shine. It might come but maybe not. Adults know the truth about acting and modeling, especially where young girls are involved. There are dozens more sleaze bags waiting to take advantage of you than there are nice guys. Unless you have contacts you need to go o a good quality acting school. believe in yourself and follow your dream but get a back up career/plan in place, just in case.

Your parents are being realistic, but shouldn't laugh at your dreams either. But they realize that for every one person who makes it as an actress or singer, there are thousands who have that as their dream. Good idea to get in the drama classes and learn all you can about acting, and get some actual experience. You might want to check in your area for local little theaters and try to get involved there. Keep up your grades in all of your subjects, so you have a backup if things don't work out the way you hope.

I'm 17 and in a band with a friend of 12 years. Neither of our parents support us, teachers dont and we were bullied at school too, we didn't give up, we havint even been a band for a half a year but already we got offered a few good gigs. If every actor, singer, model, musican or anything listened to all the people that told them off we would have no Johnny Depp, no Robert Downey Jr no Lady Gaga no movies and no music. Each one of thoes people have been told the same things as you and lady gagas mom didn't support her singing choice.

Think about it reasonably. It's good to have this dream but also have a good back up plan just in case, such as having a good education. Do drama and media classes at school (maybe music if you have any ability), do school plays, maybe join a drama club, but also study core subjects and focus on your education. This way if your dream fails or you change your mind (it's possible), then you have something else to fall back on. :) Plus if you DO end up an actress, you'll be an actress with brains. I'm sure you've read around the subject and found out how hard it looks already, right? Good luck! Edit: Also now and then give yourself a small break to avoid burnout.
